Custom questions
Custom questions let you collect extra information from attendees at registration, configured per ticket type so different ticket tiers can ask different things.
The Registration Questions tab lets you collect extra fields from attendees during registration. Questions are configured per ticket type: a VIP ticket can ask about meal preference while a free General Admission ticket asks nothing at all.
Open a specific event, then go to the Registration Questions tab. Each ticket type you've created appears as a row. Select Edit on a row to open the question binding dialog.
The three modes
Open the binding dialog for a ticket type, and pick one of three tabs: Use template, Pick from bank, or No questions. The row afterward shows this as a Template, Custom, or No questions badge.
Template
Points the ticket type at a named template from your org-level Question bank. Any edits you make to that template propagate to every event using it, live, without re-saving the ticket type.
Use this when the same set of questions applies across many events and you want updates to roll out everywhere at once.
Custom
Lets you hand-pick individual questions from your bank and reorder them. The selection is saved as a frozen copy, a snapshot, at the moment you select Save. Later edits to the bank do not update the snapshot.
Use this when an event's form needs to stay stable mid-sale, or when you want a one-off question mix that doesn't match any existing template.
No questions
Attendees buying this ticket type see no additional fields during registration.
Question types
Questions are created in Question bank, under Settings. Twelve question types are available:
- Short text, single-line free-text input
- Long text, multi-line free-text input
- Email, validates email format
- Phone, phone number input
- URL, validates URL format
- Dropdown, attendee picks one option from a list
- Single choice, radio button group; attendee picks one
- Multi-select, checkbox group; attendee can check multiple options
- Year, numeric input bounded to 1900 to 2100; useful for a birth year or graduation year
- Rating (1–5), a five-point rating scale
- NPS (0–10), a Net Promoter Score-style 0 to 10 scale
- Scale, a custom scale you define with your own labelled points
The bank stores more per question than the type shown here, including which section it belongs to, whether it's flagged as personal information, and whether it's shown conditionally on another answer. Question bank covers those.
“Allow other” on choice questions
Dropdown, Single choice, and Multi-select questions all support an Allow other toggle. When enabled, a free-text field appears alongside the choices so attendees can write in an answer that doesn't fit the predefined options.
Enable it per question when you create or edit the question in Question bank. It applies to every ticket type that includes that question, whether through a template or a snapshot.
What the attendee sees
For single-ticket purchases, questions appear as a dedicated Additional Info step in the registration wizard, after Your Details and before Agreements.
For multi-ticket purchases (quantity greater than one), the separate step disappears. Questions move into per-attendee cards on the Your Details step, so each ticket holder fills out their own answers inline.
