Creating events
Set up an event's basics, format, and publishing choice in a single form, then add tickets, branding, and schedule once it exists.
An event in Events is created in a single form, then expanded over time. From the Events home, click New event. It opens as a full page, not a dialog, and nothing is saved until you submit it.
The form captures the minimum needed to give the event a home: a title, a URL, a format, and how you want it published. Everything else (tickets, branding, schedule, communications) is configured on the event's own tabs once it exists.
Basics
- Title: required. The event's public name. Minimum two characters, maximum 255.
- URL slug: required. Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only, unique within your organization. It fills in from the title automatically until you edit it directly, and then stops following the title.
- Description: optional, up to 2000 characters. Appears on the public event page under the title. Leave it blank and add it later.
Banner, visibility, and groups
Event banner is optional: a wide cover image, roughly 2:1, uploaded before the event even exists. Skip it and portal cards for the event fall back to a coloured gradient instead of an image.
Visibility is Public (anyone in your organization can see and register) or Private (only you and people you invite). This controls who inside your workspace can see the event, not whether the general public can register: both options can have a public registration page.
If your organization has defined event groups (Category, City, and similar), an optional Groups section lets you tag the event so your team can filter by it and your portal can group listings by it. It only appears when your organization has group axes set up.
Event format
Pick Simple, Multi Day, or Advanced. Formats your plan doesn't include show a Pro badge and are disabled, with an upgrade link underneath. See Event formats for what each one unlocks.
Schedule
Timezone, start date, and end date are all optional on the create form. Leave a time blank for an all-day date. You can finalize the venue address and any detailed scheduling from Settings once the event exists.
How you publish it
The last choice on the form decides what happens when you submit:
- Save as draft: only your team sees it. Publish it any time from Settings, in the General section.
- Announce it: publicly listed with no date or tickets yet. Visitors leave an email and you notify them when things are ready. See Announced events for the full workflow.
- Publish now: live immediately, visible on your portal and public event page.
Editing the basics after creation
Most fields from the create form stay editable in Settings: title, description, status, and format live in the General section; dates, timezone, and venue live in the Schedule and Venue sections. Two things behave differently:
- URL slug: editable, but only safe to change before any registrations exist or any links have been shared.
- Event format: upgradable later (Simple to Multi Day, or up to Advanced) if your plan covers the target format. Downgrades aren't supported once features tied to the higher format are in use.
