Day of event

Cockpit

The Cockpit is your live, day-of command centre for an event: real-time attendance, check-in, badges, and walk-ins in one modular screen.

The Cockpit is your live, day-of command centre for running an event. It brings attendance numbers, check-in, walk-in approvals, badge printing, and the session schedule into one modular screen that updates in real time.

Open it yourself from a laptop at the door, project it on a screen, or hand it to a volunteer who does not have a Mercleo account through a cockpit invite.

Open the Cockpit

Go to Operations in the sidebar. Every event you can staff appears as a card, grouped under Happening now, Today, and Upcoming. Each card carries three actions: Open Cockpit, a share-link button for minting guest invites, and a kiosks button for self-serve check-in stations.

Multi-day events also list a chip for each day on the card, so you can open the Cockpit already scoped to the day you want to review.

The modules

The Cockpit has nine modules, switched from the sidebar inside the Cockpit itself:

  • Dashboard: live attendance KPIs, trend charts, and what needs your attention right now.
  • Check-in: the full attendee roster with a built-in scanner.
  • Door check: scanner only, no roster, for a fast single-purpose entry point.
  • Session scan: per-session scanning for breakout rooms and workshops.
  • Schedule: the event's session timetable.
  • Walk-in queue: pending door registrations waiting for your approval.
  • Badges: the badge print and handover workflow.
  • Mass print: bulk badge PDF generation.
  • Team: the operator roster for the event.

Day scope

Multi-day events show a day switcher in the Cockpit header, next to the event title. Changing the day scopes every module at once: check-in counts, the walk-in queue, and attendance figures all shift to reflect the day you selected.

Events with two to five days show a row of day buttons; six or more days, or a narrow screen, switch to a dropdown. Selecting today clears the day selection, so a link you shared stays pinned to whatever day is live rather than going stale overnight.

Dashboard

The Dashboard module is the busiest part of the Cockpit: six live KPI tiles, four trend charts, and a Happening now panel showing which sessions are running. See Capacity monitoring for the full breakdown.

Badge queue

The Badges module has three tabs: Find & hand over (look up an attendee and mark their badge collected), Print (send badges to the printer), and Printed · ready (badges waiting for pickup).

A source filter above the tabs narrows the queue to your own scans, a specific kiosk, an operator, or a guest cockpit invite, so you can see exactly which station queued a given badge.

Guest access

Not everyone working your event needs a Mercleo account. Mint a cockpit invite from the share-link button on the Operations card to hand a volunteer a link and a PIN, scoped to only the modules they need, such as check-in and badges at a door. See Cockpit invites for how to mint, scope, and revoke them.

Cockpit settings

Open the event, go to Settings, then Cockpit, under On the day. Two preferences live there:

  • Default landing module: which module the Cockpit opens on when someone arrives without picking one.
  • Unattended-scan chime: plays an audio cue when a scan completes while the Cockpit is open. Useful for a self-serve badge-pickup station where nobody is necessarily watching the screen.
