Planning campaigns

A campaign gathers the content for one push, like a launch or an event, in one place. It has a start and end date, an owner, and the people who approve its content. Open Marketing → Campaigns to plan a campaign by week, check what's ready, and see what needs you.

Creating a campaign

  1. Click + next to Campaigns, then give the campaign a name and its start and end dates.
  2. Pick an owner, and choose whether items need approval before they go out.
  3. Save, then click New item to add content. Each item joins the campaign and starts with the campaign's approvers.

Finding your campaigns

The list sorts campaigns by when they run. The thin bar under each one shows its dates across five months, and a line marks today.

  • Now: running today.
  • Next: starts within the next 60 days.
  • Later: starts after that, or has no start date yet.
  • Past: has ended. The group stays folded until you open it.

Use the search icon to filter campaigns by name. A hollow dot and "Draft" mean a campaign has no content yet.

Three ways to see a campaign

Switch views with the control at the top right of an open campaign. Click any card, row or chip to open that item.

What "ready" means

An item can go out in more than one format, like an Instagram post and an email. The ready count, such as "5 of 14 ready", adds up every format in the campaign and counts one as ready once it's scheduled or posted.

Every format moves through the same statuses:

  • Draft: being written.
  • In review: waiting on approvers.
  • Changes: a reviewer asked for changes.
  • Approved: signed off, but not counted as ready until it's scheduled.
  • Scheduled: has a go-out time locked in.
  • Posted: live. Emails mark themselves posted when they send.

Red flags content that needs you. "Overdue" means the go-out time has passed and the content isn't posted. "Changes asked" means a reviewer sent it back. Hover a card on the timeline to see what's wrong.

Approvals

With Approval required on, nothing in the campaign can be scheduled until every approver signs off. Each new item starts with the campaign's approvers, and you can change them per item. One request for changes sends an item back.

The tracking slug

Every campaign has a UTM campaign slug, made from its name, such as spring-launch. It tags the campaign's tracked links so your results add up under one name. Use lowercase letters and numbers, with dashes between words.

Editing and archiving

Use the … menu on an open campaign to edit it or archive it. Archiving takes the campaign off the list; its content stays on the Content board.
