Overview

The Work area is where your team plans and tracks its work: projects with boards, backlogs and sprints; collaborative docs; and goals and initiatives that roll work up into outcomes.

Everyone in your account can view everything they have access to for free. Creating and editing content requires a seat, covered below.

Projects and boards

A project holds a board, a backlog, and (if enabled) sprints. Work items move through a workflow of statuses on a kanban-style board, and can be epics, stories, tasks, or subtasks. See Create a project and Boards and statuses.

Docs

Docs are real-time collaborative documents, organized into spaces. What makes them part of Work specifically: you can mention a work item inline (it renders as a live status chip) or embed a saved board or table view right inside a doc. Both stay live: the doc never holds a stale copy of the work. See Docs and spaces and Mentions and embeds.

Goals and initiatives

Goals track an outcome (an objective) through one or more key results, with regular check-ins. Initiatives sit a level above: they link whole projects and epics under a strategic container and roll their completion up into one progress number. See Goals and Initiatives.

Who can create and edit

Viewing, commenting, reacting, and watching are free for everyone on the account. Creating or editing anything, projects, work items, docs, spaces, or views, requires a seat. Every account gets 2 free seats; more come with a paid plan.
