Docs and spaces

Docs are edited together in real time: everyone with access sees changes as they happen, with no save button. Docs live inside spaces, and each doc can carry a cover, an emoji icon, and its own comment threads.

Spaces

A space is a folder-like container for docs. Creating one asks for a name and a visibility: Anyone in your organization (the default) or Only you + people you invite. You can change a space's visibility, and invite people to a private one, from the space page after creating it.

My Space

Every member gets one private My Space for personal notes and drafts, pinned in the sidebar. It's created the first time you open it. Other people's My Space never shows up in any listing, even to an admin, unless they've explicitly shared a doc from it with you.

Docs, files, links, and folders

A space's tree can hold four kinds of entries: a collaborative doc, an uploaded file, an external link, or a folder for grouping the others. Drag entries in the tree to reorder or move them between folders.

Covers, icons, and page width

Open a doc's header to add a cover (a preset gradient), an emoji icon, or to toggle between a narrower and a wider page.

Writing: slash commands and formatting

Type / on a new line for a menu of headings, bulleted and numbered lists, task lists (with checkboxes), quotes, code blocks, dividers, callouts, toggles, and tables. A formatting toolbar appears when you select text.

Comments

Select any text and leave a comment anchored to it. Threads support replies, assigning a comment to someone, and marking it resolved. Commenting is free even for people without a seat to author docs.

Sharing a doc

Sharing a specific doc is additive: it grants a member or a group editor or viewer access to that doc (and everything under it) on top of whatever access its space already gives them. You can share a doc with someone who doesn't otherwise have access to the space it lives in.

Finding docs

Search indexes the body text of a doc, not only its title, so text you wrote inside a doc is findable. Open a work item or a saved view and its "Referenced in" section lists the docs that mention or embed it; that list only ever shows docs you have access to.
