Custom objects & automation

Object templates

Object templates are pre-built custom object types Mercleo ships ready to install: the eight-template Nonprofit pack and the standalone Sales Deal. Installing one adds its fields, stages, and default view to your workspace, and every install is idempotent.

Object templates let you install a fully-shaped custom object type in one click instead of building fields and stages by hand. Each template arrives with its own fields, stage set (where it has one), and default view, and every install is safe to re-run. You reach the gallery from the Templates link on the Objects page.

Installing a template

Each template card has an Install button labelled with the template name (for example Install Sales Deal). Clicking it adds the type to your workspace: the button shows Installing while it runs, then settles to a disabled Installed badge. Any template already present in your workspace shows the Installed badge from the start. The All objects link at the top returns you to Objects, where the new type appears immediately.

Installing a template creates its fields, its stage set if it has one, and sets its default view. The type's key is immutable, but its display details, such as name, icon, colour, and default view, plus its fields and stage sets, can be edited afterward from the type's settings page once your plan includes authoring.

The Nonprofit pack

The Nonprofit pack bundles eight templates: Gift, Pledge, Grant Application, Membership, Volunteer Shift, Program, Program Enrollment, and Case.

The Install Nonprofit pack button installs all eight at once. It shows a running count of how many are already in your workspace (for example 3/8), and reads Pack installed (8/8) once every member is present. The same eight templates are also listed individually under Nonprofit pack, individual templates, so you can install only the ones you need.

The pack ships a mix of view modes. Grant Application opens in a six-stage board (Researching, Drafting, Submitted, Awarded, Declined, Closed); Pledge opens in a four-stage board (New, Active, Completed, Lapsed); Volunteer Shift opens in calendar view; and Gift, Membership, Program, Program Enrollment, and Case open in table view.

Sales Deal, the standalone template

Sales Deal sits outside the Nonprofit pack under Standalone templates, so accounts that want a sales pipeline can install it without the nonprofit set. It opens in board view with a six-stage default set (Lead, Qualified, Proposal, Negotiation, Won, Lost) and ships with the fields Name, Amount, Currency, Expected close, Source, Lost reason, and Notes.

What stays fixed once a template is installed

Templates install as system templates. Once your plan includes authoring, you can rename a system template and edit its icon, colour, default view, fields, and stage sets, but its key and structural shape are managed by Mercleo. Unlike custom types you build yourself, a system template cannot be archived; its settings page does not show an Archive type card.

Installing the Nonprofit pack does not lock its members together; you control each template on its own. There is no pack-level uninstall, and removing one template from the pack is independent of the others.
