Sessions and goals
On each mentorship match you log the meetings a pairing has and set goals for mentees. Participants can log their own sessions and update goal progress from their portal, and you can do the same on their behalf.
Once you have formed a match, two cards on the match page let you track the work the pairing does together: Sessions records the meetings that happened, and Goals sets objectives for the mentee to work toward. You manage both from the match, and participants keep them up to date from their own portal.
Open a match from a program's Matches tab to reach its detail page at /mentorship/matches/[id]. The Sessions and Goals cards sit below the match overview and participant list.
Logging a session
On the Sessions card, click Log a session to open the inline form. It has the following fields:
- When — the date and time the session happened. This is the only required field; the Save session button stays disabled until you set it.
- Duration (minutes) — optional whole number of minutes.
- Title (optional) — a short label for the meeting. A session with no title is listed as
Session. - Attendance — a dropdown with Attended, No-show, Rescheduled, and Cancelled. It defaults to Attended.
- Notes (optional) — free text for what was covered.
Click Save session to record it. Sessions are sorted newest first by their When date, and the card header shows how many have been logged. Each row displays the title, the date and time, and the attendance label.
Editing or deleting a session
Each session row has a pencil icon to edit it and a trash icon to delete it. Editing opens the same fields inline so you can change the date, duration, title, attendance, or notes, then click Save.
Setting goals for a mentee
On the Goals card, click Add goal to open the form. It has three fields:
- Goal — the objective text (for example, Complete a mock interview). Required; the Add goal save button stays disabled until you enter it.
- For mentee — a dropdown of the mentees in this match, defaulting to the first one. Choosing Unassigned creates a goal not tied to a specific mentee.
- Target date (optional) — a date the goal is aimed at.
A new goal starts at Not started. Each goal row shows its title, current status, a pencil icon to edit, and a trash icon to delete.
Goal statuses
A goal moves through four statuses, set from the dropdown when you edit it: Not started, In progress, Achieved, and Dropped. Editing a goal also lets you change its title, target date, and notes.
How participants log sessions and update goals
Each participant has a portal view of the matches they belong to. On a match's Sessions card in the portal, they can log their own meetings, and what they record appears on the same Sessions card you see. On the Goals card, every participant in the match — mentor or mentee — sees the goals and can change a goal's status from the same four options. You set and word the goals; participants keep the progress current.
